It was okay if your looking for a consignment shop. If you your looking for rich history you might feel shorted.
What a wonderful place and right downtown Plains. We stayed on Christmas Eve and the rooms were so lovely all decorated for Christmas. The inn is so comfortable and beautifully appointed with interesting antiques. I stayed in the 1920's room and it was perfect. Everyone was so friendly. We had everything we needed to be comfortable. Stay there if you go to Plains. It is a part of the experience of being in that sweet, south Georgia village. Yep, we got to be with Jimmy Carter for Sunday School. It was a perfect Christmas.
The rooms themselves have a wonderful charm and quirkiness - but don't go expecting hot tubs and on-demand movies, this is a historical place. There's also a little communal area for your breakfast and to have tea/coffee, complete with a 2nd floor patio to sit and watch the world go by.
Quaint and quirky place that's worth a stay for a day or two. (There's not too much in the town, I don't even recall a bar as such, but there is a cafe/restaurant in the block the hotel is on).
The check in staff in the store below are wonderfully helpful and can provide you with lots of information on the town of Plains (and of course the Carters). The museum is definitely worth a visit.
Nice & quiet in a historic setting. Rooms are fun in their themed decor. Not much to do here for more than a day...unless you just want to relax and wind down.
I was visiting my granddaughter that works at the inn.I think it is a very good place to stay if you are in or near plains.and I think Blake is doing a great job at the inn.
Wonderful place. We stopped off here in back in November, having specifically read about it years ago in an in-flight magazine. Really enjoyed our stay. Each of the rooms is decorated in a different style, representing the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and then there's the presidential suite, complete with period furnishings (I'll upload pictures at some point). At the time we were staying we managed to get the presidential suite which in itself was awesome, and they were nice enough to leave the other rooms open so we could wander in and look at them.
